Maximising effectiveness…
RadComm equipment requires a minimum of an annual service to ensure that it is functioning properly and effectively. Your system will produce a message:
‘Calibration Required’
Reading about Radiation and its Risks will help explain more about why it is important to maintain your equipment and have it calibrated and serviced regularly.
We keep a record of all the calibrations we have carried out in the UK and will contact you when your system is due for calibration, based on our last visit to site, however please contact us if you require an earlier visit or need a further copy of your last certificate. We will book an appointment for an engineer to carry out the non invasive calibration on your vehicle system, so you can continue to operate so you can continue to operate. If you have a handheld device this will need to be provided to the engineer for approximately 15 minutes for initial testing.
During a calibration process, the engineer will:
- Use a radioactive source to measure the cps of the system. This will provide an indication of the health of the scintillator.
- A self test with a light source will be employed as a back up check of the system health.
- A background cps will be taken for reference.
If any faults are noted with the system, the engineer will endeavour to adjust the unit or to replace any problematic parts whilst on site, ensuring your system continues to operate effectively.
By default systems are calibrated after any repair work.
